Winter Water Risk In Lower Mainland Homes
Freeze events, holiday vacancies and what to check before the cold.
Lower Mainland winters are mild until they are not. A short freeze can split exposed piping in crawlspaces, garages and exterior walls.
Before a cold snap: know where the main shutoff is, insulate or drain exposed runs, and if you leave for the holidays, shut the main off or arrange a check.
After a freeze: run fixtures and watch the meter. Split pipes often leak only when pressure returns.
